Default Siren trouble

I'm having a strange problem with my Smart Siren II. I had this siren installed on my Road King and it worked fine. I kept it and installed it on my new Road Glide. Here's the strange part. When the alarm arms or disarms, it chirps normally. But when I trigger the alarm (with the fob away from the bike) the siren doesn't sound. The lights flash, the ignition is disabled, but no siren. I've had it installed for a week now, ridden every day, so it shouldn't be a low battery issue. And it's less than 2 years old so the battery should still be good. I can't figure it out and it's driving me mad! Anyone ever seen this before?

I thought those alarm systems were married to the bike once installed?

The alarms aren't married to the bikes

i was told the alarms were married to the bike and the ecm ,all the componentsreconize each other for the system to work, thats why you can just change out a module for another module to bypass the system, i havent a clue how it all works together, thats what my dealer told me when they set the system up and married all the components together on my bike.

could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time

Well, I just tested my siren on my dad's '06 Road King and it works perfectly. Guess it's not the siren. Has anyone else put a Smart Siren II on a 2008 bike? I'm wondering now if there's a compatibility issue with the alarm module on the 08's.

nah, don't think thats it. i just went to hd.com and the smart siren ii says 'fits 02-later touring models'. maybe you're not plugging it into the right plug? there is a diagnostic plug in that same area. look at the plug you are trying to connect to, does it have a black, brown, and green wire? if not, you're plugging it in the wrong spot.

I was told that the Alarm System (pager & siren) on 2006 and earlier - would not work with the 2007 - 2008 systems...

make sure we're talking the same language here, the security system is different for 00-06 models, and 07 (they do not show factory security as an option through p and a). but the smart siren II fits 02 and later touring models. it even comes up if you do a year specific search through the p and a website.

Yes, just verified the part number and that's the siren I have. Makes no sense to me that it would chirp for arm/disarm, but won't sound when the alarm is triggered. Especially knowing it works just fine on an 04 and an 06.

I also checked the connector like you suggested as well. The one I'm using is black/brown/green. The only other connector is completely different. No chance of using it by mistake since it wouldn't plug in. I assume this is the diagnostic connector you mentioned.
