Ok..more on decel popping! '05 Ultra Classic with 8000 miles. Bike is stock with the exception of Rush mufflers with 2.25" baffles, SE air system and a PCIII USB. The popping is on low rpm (2000-3500) decel and between shifts only. The "rumble" I don't mind, but the popping I do. A hard high rpm (4500-5000) decel sounds great and won't pop even if I let the rpms come all the way down. I've sealed the muffler connections and will be replacing the exhaust manifold gaskets today or tomorrow, but they don't seam to be leaking anyway. I've tried different positive and negative values for the zero throttle setting on the PC, but still get the popping. I've tried a few different maps including others than the one put on it from Fuelmoto. Will making the exhaust more restrictive by reducing the size of the baffle to 2" help? Maybe 1.75"? I've noticed that the exhaust from the left side pipe is always cooler, so can it be pulling that cooler air into the right side pipe via the crossover pipe and causing some of the decel popping? Thoughts please! Thanks.....
I have the same problem and I have tried everything 2 PCIIIâs one sert 3 dyno tunes nothing seems to work now I am going to install a thunder max I will post the results if it works
PC`s for H-Dare crap withvery limited AFR control.
I had the same problem with my 07 when I first installed my DTT/WEGO IID system. After the first Auto-Tune session andadjustment it stopped.
The AFR was lean and caused a lean deceleration backfire. After some AFR/Alpha N Table adjusting I have no deceleration backfire.....
I can`t say enough about the DTT/WEGO IID system. I would never recommend a PC III on a Harley.

Do you think I can see your map? I'd like to see how much fuel is in your low end.
Anthony, The current map I have in it is M807-163. I went to this one from Fuelmoto's supplied map without much change in performance (or popping). Fuelmoto's did have some low positive values in their zero throttle setting, while this has all zeros. I played with their map and this one with the positive and negative values in the zero spot. Last night I just put it back to this map until I replace the exhaust gaskets and try smaller baffles. Let me know if you see something I can try. I'm just used to my other bikes that are/were all carburated!
I have a similar situation - maybe worse. I have an '05 Ultra, too, and had the stealer do stage one about 6 weeks ago. Rush 2.25 slip ons, air filter, and remap the ECM. I had them do it all since it has the extended warranty and I didn't want to risk any BS.
My bike pops like crazy, and now the RH muffler is turning coffee color. I took it in yesterday so they could look at it. Their response was the muffler color was a warranty issue with the muffler mfg. (Rush), which they said they would work out for me. I asked about the popping, and they said they're installing a dyno in 2 weeks - bring it in then and they'll dyno it. Right now they "seem" to be taking responsibility for it - we'll see in 2 weeks. Face value, it was a blow off....
Strange that they need to dyno one of their own maps - I thought they'd have all that figured out for a simple stage one.
Don't mean to hijack your thread - I'm having a similar situation on the same bike.

What are they going to do on the dyno? It sounds like you have the HD download, which is a one-time deal that cannot be adjusted unless you have a SERT or other (PCIII, FuelPack, etc) fuel management system.
Well, I just got back from the Harley Dealer here, but while I was there I met a guy that had V&H true duals with the Rush mufflers on his '07 Ultra. He had the Race Tuner on his though. Sounded nice and he had no popping on decel. Made me wonder more about the cross over pipe (and maybe the PC). I picked up the gaskets for the front pipes to see if that will help. I spoke to the service manager there and was discussing the problem and he stopped me when I mentioned the PC. He said they don't use those since it will void the warranty on the ECM. I said, "Sorry, no warranty on mine since it's an '05 anyway." I'm not about to dish out the bucks for a Race Tuner when I'd rather use it for the true dual pipes. I don't mind someone jumping in with the same problem if this can help them too. I think I've read all the other threads about decel popping and don't know what else I can gain by starting another thread. We'll see!
I took a look at that 807-163 map. Since you have more air coming in via the SE air filter, I'd suggest you add some fuel in the low end. (you have none)
Try adding +10 in the first column from 1000 rpm to 4000rpm's. That should eliminate SOME if not all. If you still have some popping, add +15. Keep adding small amounts until the popping is gone.
9 out of 10 times, this is all it takes to get rid of that annoying popping.

My guess is to try to charge me $300, then use the "correct" map....I know it's running rich, beyond that it runs fine.
I was talking to a service writer, I think later this week I'll talk to the mgr. See if I can be a squeeky gear.
