Default Rear Breaks

Having going through the paces of "Ride Like a Pro IV" on my 07 UC and now the rear breaks are just about history. Not being a 'wrench' I have decided to tackle replacing the brake pads using the tech manual. Is there any thing else I should order besides the pads and what pads would you recommend? And any recommendtions/tips?

I used a putty knife to push the pistons bake and used some brake paste
on the back of the backing plate of each pad to prevent noise. Use the shop manual and you should have no problem at all.

You might consider some disc brake grease so that the calipers will draw back into the pockets easier. This will also help reduce brake squeal.

Good Quality brake cleaner (spray)

Make certain the rotor and pads are free of grease (fingerprints) when you reinstall the parts

Just didn't have time to mess with the brakes, so I dropped it off at Eastern Performance this am. They called about two hours later and said that it isn't the brakes, your rear shock is leaking. Since it is under warranty, take it back to HD. He went on to state, that we cleaned the pads and areas that was wet.

This evening when I went to retrieve the scoot, knowing that I would owe them for shop timeand whatever additional time required toclean the pads etc. Walked in and they showed me the shop report and said have a great evening. No friggin charge!

Dang, it is hard to beat Eastern Performance for service, reliability and customer care!

brake clean aerosol to clean the assembly of dust etc.
A small C clamp to re-seat pistons in bores (not a must but helpfull)
some aerosol anti brake squeal. spray on back of pads to keep pads stuck to the pistons. this will help quiet the pads down while cruising.

Since this is a fixed type caliper and does NOT slide on the mounts you do not need any type of grease.
Do NOT put any grease around pistons. The rubber boot around them keeps the dirt, dust , grime out of the internals. Grease on outside will just collect more dirt and grime.

Don't forget you are going to need the specialty HD brake tools.... a 1/4" 12 point socket and a 10mm 12 point socket. the most important tools required.
