Default Motor work help? Advice?

I am going to do some motor work and would like to get at least 100hp--100ft/lb tq out of my 2007 SG 96". I would like to get more lower to mid range tq also but still keep the bike street as I do a lot of highway touring.

What I plan on going with are Revolution Performance heads, HQ-500-TC cams, D&D Fatcat 2into1 exhaust, Ness Big sucker a/c, and a Daytona Twin Tech mgt system.

I outta reach the 100hp--100 ft/lb mark with this setup shouldn't I? Or should I go with a 103 upgrade?
Any tips or advice?

I would look at Torque, Not horsepower. I would talk to a builder. I got a friend that did a 107 thats puttin out around 120 tq. He just did a my friends Heritage, and doing anothers dudes EG Ultra.
Also talk to yer head man. I know a real good builder if you are willing to drive a few hundred miles from where you are. A good builder that can build a balanced motor is where its at. But you have to let him know what is the most important to you. Also you have to deceide on cams. Where you want them to come in at , that will also determine where they go out at, What kind of riding you do. Solo or 2 up.

Are you interested in just the horsepower and torque or you interested in Keeping yer bikes fuel milage and a dependable bike too or what.
Who's doing the job for you.

Sounds like you have a pretty good plan layed out. Just curious.... why not HQ heads to compliment the HQ cams? You'll be hard pressed to find better work than HQ and they can set them up specifically for you and your requirement(s). Doug designed the cam & can set the heads up to take full advantage....

If I were you, I'd call and talk to Doug (@HQ) about it before you pull the trigger.....

I did exact what you are going to do except I put 10.5 to1 pistons on a 88. Got 112 horses and 105lbs. of torque

Phil, I never really thought about the HQ heads[sm=headbang.gif]Good point. I'll go with HQ heads and the HQ-500-TC cams. Do you think this setup will hit the 100-100 mark with eveything else stock or do I need to go with bigger pistons?

I'll also give Doug a call and let him set me up. I'm still a few months away from the work because I want to wait until riding season is over. Just trying to get my ducks in a row

If it were me, and I already had the heads off, I'd send the jugsalong with the heads and havef them bored to 3.875" and have a 103". That's a very small investment and it sure would make a difference.... and... the time would be right.

However, all ya gotta do is talk to Doug about it. He'll tell ya what ya need to do to get the results you want.

Another vote for HQ and Doug. Make sure you give Doug a call. It is very important to get the heads, cam, bore, pistons and compression ratio matched. I recently completed a HQ build; HQ heads, HQ 575 cams, RevPerf 107 BB kit, 10.5:1 CR - All from Doug. Complimented with a DTT and D&D Fat Cat.

I got a set of heads off a 06 street glide. my builder had a set of seasoned jugs. We sent them off and had them bored to 3.875. Got a set of Screaming EAgle Flat top pistons. Got 37 andrews cams. Got a TM and had it loaded like the build we was doing.
We did all this so my bike wasn't down as long and becaude I drove 700 miles to my builder. I liked his prices a lot.
The builder had everything laid out on the build table and made an appointment for me in Alabama and I drove there and it took 2 days for the tear down and put back together. I got my bike dynoed before it had time to tune itself. It leaned out at 4400rpms and I came out with 103 torque. Still have good fuel milage and the bike pulls like a train.
