I bought one used off of CL. for 250.00. I used it one winter and sold it for a regular hammock. I never have said that ride was great but my butt got cold.
I can handle the cold ( I have heated gear) but breathing that cold air is hard on my lungs.
I wear a heavy bandana over my face when it's really cold, 20° or below. It helps. I guess a helmet would help too, but the wife says I'm too hard headed.
As far as the op's question, there was a heated / cooled seat on Marketplace a couple of weeks ago for $500. The wife wanted it but it turns out I wanted new Jeep skid plates more... Try a sheepskin - you'd likely be surprised by the difference. I throw mine on for long distance rides whether hot or very cold. It fixes lower extremity issues with both.
