Default Tomahawk Fall Ride/Sept. 13-16

Anybody coming to the 26th Annual Tomahawk Fall Ride? Its the largest annual rally in the State. It brings roughly 20,000 bikes and about 40,000 people into this town of 3700 population. Its a great event that just keeps getting bigger every year and funds raised benefit MDA. Bands, Demo rides, tours of H-D plant, vendors, etc.

Planning a day tripto Tomahawk forSunday.

Any groups/gangs/rides going up from the Appleton area leaving on Sunday???

Went last year but the ride sucked - caught in thunderstorms and hail - just bad timing for me.

If you had four hours there, where would you go???

THANKS.

(if you must ask - yes, that is a COP in the background-I was getting a ticket for parking on the sidewalk )

Well, as you must already know, most vendors are packing their bags Sunday morning and folks are heading home, but usually there are some morning activities at Sara Park in town. I don't know what Bubba has planned for Sunday up at Nokomis Park (north of town on Hwy. L), but that venue is getting more and more popular every year. I guess this year he has Sammy Kershaw and .38 Special playing on Friday and Saturday nights.

Ryan,

I think you'll be impressed. There are bands playing downtown on both Friday and Saturday nights. They lift the no drinking ban on Main St. (Wisconsin Ave) until midnight and only motorcycles and foot trafficare allowed on the main drag. I think the really big party is up at Nokomis Park about 5 miles north of town on Hwy. L. Bubba has dry camping up there and according to our local police chief (I had dinner with him and a bunch of other folks last week) the campsite reservations are up 30% from last year.

I've seen several of the same vendors here at Tomahawk that we see at Sturgis each year.

Dave,

Friday is a very good day to be here. You'll miss the Thunder Parade at about 5p Friday during which some 5K bikes take a short 15 mile ride starting at the H.S. heading out of town and then back into town as many hundreds of spectators line the streets and watch us line up on the main drag downtown. That's when the street party really kicks off.

I got "permission" to go up Friday and found a room in Rhinelander.

The Tomahawk parade / food / drink / party was awesome.Saw some cool stuff.

How about the black lab on the back of that bike decked out in leather and goggles- or the guy with the ancient Harley who had to put a rag underneath it when parked to catch the oil - or the guy with the three wheel CAN-AM (huh???)

Party seemed in high gear on each end of town - right around the packies. Gettin' too old for that.

Only thing that sucked was the temperature Friday night. Felt like December. Did get caught in a "hail" storm on the way up too - man those little buggers sting. Oh yeah, somebody should have mentioned that hiway 39/51 was down to one lane around Stevens Point - took forever (1 1/2 hours) to go 2 miles.

And Saturday morning 7am, it was 24Fin Rhinelander.

Wow - was that a sight to see - at least three dozen scoots sitting there in the morning sun/dew.

Every last one of them with a totally frosted windshield and slushies on the seats. Ain't seen that before.

Won't forgot the camera OR the ice scraper next year
