According to my 2019 owners manual, diesel engine oil works fine. Rotella is a diesel engine oil, right? Not so sure about his viscosity choice.

You do NOT want to put it into an H-D.

Normal operational deposits.

Use Amsoil spec'd for Moto (V-Twin 20-50) , Lucas, I think Royal Purple stuff is OK too..

Back in the day I think it was Kenny Roberts who said; if you got a $10 head, wear a $10 helmet, go for it!
But all modern engine oils have detergents. Granted, modern diesel multi vis oils have a healthy additive package to suspend particles over extended drain intervals, but why would that be harmful to a V-twin?
I am curious what exactly is different about the additive package in the Rotella that would make it a no-go, there are no deposits that we would actually need ??

The great oil debates. Go ahead, put Rotella in your H-D, it's not my $$$ or bike or free time or budget or retirement $$$ or..... ! Good luck!

I showed you facts, and you were asked to do the same. If you can't do it, then you should say so.

If you truly believe HD engines require non-detergent oil, you might consider doing some research.

I used non-detergent 30w in my 1964 Corvair. It did a pretty good job at stopping oil leaks. The OP's bike isn't from 1964, and doesn't require a non-detergent oil.

This is mostly real men here that don't parrot what their uncles sisters best friends boyfriend said, and this isn't one of those laughing stock Facebook tech pages.

It always amazes me how many people drink that kool-aid. It's oil, the bike doesn't care.

IMHO.... Amsoil has always seemed more like a marketing cult that uses their "club" to offer a discount to club members on their high prices....

As Groucho Marx once said, “I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me as a member”

I can explain to you what that means, but I can’t understand it for you. So you just go on being an Amsoil fanboi.

Not here to argue but I've been using diesel oils (including Rotella) for 70K on the present bike and also in the last 8 bikes without issue. Many have. If you do a search on the forum you'll see many using it. It's just oil.
It's fine in the engine, but like many other oils, and because it contains friction modifiers, it's not recommend for use in the Primary (clutch plates).

Guess it's Winter.
