Neither am I. There's nothing to argue about. I asked about who the H-D dealer is in Tucson, a "service manager" telling a customer to change into it.
With lots of Rotella oil we've got over 600K miles in our (3) diesels. Those are NOT motorcycles?! Holy fok.....whatever, Good luck!
Forgot to mention, welcome to HDForums. Stick around if you like. You'll learn all kinds of things about these bikes from people who know (and a few that don't). Real world experience for free...
It's F&*(ING hilarious that an H-D manual that tells you to TAKE IT (Rotella, etc.) OUT at your 1st opportunity is somehow an advisory to use it all the time?! THAT's not my opinion-it's right there in the FM!!!
Read it again. It's more HD marketing to see your dealer to get their magic oil, not unlike that magic Amsoil stuff.
You seem to be a lot like my ex wife, always gotta be right but no facts.
Didn't see what the fix was, skipped some middle threads. I read it did pass a test. If you think you got a bad battery, try a jump pack or charger and see if starts better.

Charge it over night, and try first.
This conversation has moved on. We're now discussing oil, and I'm sure glad you're here. Would you use a diesel engine oil, like Rotella, in your Harley if you had one and it runs?

Basicly, His HD dealer told him to go with a thinner oil, as the cold temps + thick oil could potentially make it hard to start, and I believe there is some truth to that, but I would think you would probably need to be in the "below freezing" temps with dino oil for that to happen, my big old hog turns right over with my little 16 cell lithium battery, and el cheapo Supertech 20w50 oil.
After lengthy discussion with service manager it appears nothing wrong g with the bike and it's the cooler temp making for harder rank. I suggested rotella 5w/40 synthetic and he thinks that will solve it. Tomorrow oil change. Will report results by Saturday. This makes the most sense to me.
For those of you that can't breathe because his dealer told him to run Rotella, show the rest of us where his dealer told him that. It looks to me like he suggested it, not the dealer.
