Re-tuning for EFI
I have an 06 Electra standard. I get different answers from different people. Putting SE air cleaner kit and Tedds pipes, one person says I don't have to get the computer redone and another says I do. The one guy says the computer will compensate for the diiference and the other says it won't. Who's right and for what reasons. Soryy for the stupid question, new to the site and a totally different bike. Thanks

The 02 sensors have a pretty narrow band and are limited in their ability to adjust the ECU, especially when you have put a high flow AC and pipes. Pull the plugs and check to see how lean you are running. You'll have to richen the AFR up with a SERT, PC, etc.

you will need a fuel management system to richen up the AFR (like changing jets on a carb'd bike). since you are EFI, you will need way to reprogram the computer to make it richen up the AFR.Screaming Eagle Race Tuners,Power Commanders, and other similar systems will allow you to richen up the AFR, since making the changes you are doing will lean the fuelmixture.Pull the plugs and check to see if you are actually running lean after these changes, likely you will have an excessive lean condition. Search here on the forum, lots of info on this.
