2007 Street Glide Electrical Issues
I painted my inner fairing, so everything got disconnected. I labeled plugs with tape and took plenty pics. Everything worked prior to disassembly. Nothing was depinned on the wiring.
Radio wont work! Hand controls dont work! Only Run(didnt try to start it) and low/hight beam switch works. The Accesory switch wont even light up! Lights on the RPM & Speedo kick on when I flip the bike to Run, but wont kick on like others when I just turn ignition.
- I have new generation ThunderMax .idk if something is locked in there?
- checked fuses
- unplugged batter for a few minutes
- looked at all wires to make sure theyre plugged
- Unplugged Aquatic AV radio and plugged stock radio in (still nothing)
Is there something I need to rest or do??? Please help as this crap is really stressing me out after putting it all back together.
ignition switch plug connected all the way?
just a couple ideas
Its been awhile but I dont think those baggers had interconnect fairing harnesses right, just the main harness running all the way up?
You could always try plugging your old ecm in and see if that changed anything over the thundermax too
Two very good questions... the answers are;
1) You are going to need to find out
2) It's probably not the ThunderMax unless related to under fairing connections.
You don't want to hear this, but usually when problem pops up after you have done some work on your bike.... The issue is caused by something you "fixed", touched, bumped or pulled when doing your repair... It's not impossible for an unrelated problem to pop up, but in my experience, there is a high likely hood, something went poorly in your reinstall of the inner fairing...
Your quote: "I painted my inner fairing, so everything got disconnected. I labeled plugs with tape and took plenty pics. Everything worked prior to disassembly. Nothing was depinned on the wiring."
Now it's reassembled, and several things aren't working...
It's time to take a breath, slow down, and it's time to check your work.....
There are a lot of connections when removing an inner fairing. There is a high probability, that one or more have an issue...
Any electrical diagnosis, needs to be thorough, and systematic. You could jump around all day, checking this or that, and never correctly "guess" what the issue is...
You can check for codes, if that part is working, to see if they will give you a clue...
I suspect, you will need to do this old school....
Did you disconnect the battery, before disconnecting all the wires in the fairing? If not, you could have accidentally shorted out something with all those open connectors hanging around... No battery disconnect, then first start checking fuses..
If battery was disconnected or fuses all checked good, then I would suspect there is a problem with a connector or two. Some of those connectors have thin pins in them. If you are rough or sloppy pushing them together, you can bend a pin so it doesn't make contact when reconnected and/or dislodge a pin in the connector.
You can get an electrical diagram, make a list of things that are not functioning, then start with the connectors associated with the issues per the diagram.
If it were me, I would probably redo all the connections, A to B, closely inspecting each one for bad, loose, or bent pins. I would also start checking wire continuity in some of the affected circuits.
You will need patience... be systematic, be thorough, and be persistent. You will find it....
Sometimes, if you have a friend who can work on bikes, having a second set of eyes look over your work can help.
Good luck with your diagnosis and repair..... Keep us posted on your progress...

One of the pins on the ignition switch connector must have pulled out a bit, so I pushed it back in and all works perfect!
what a pain in the azzzzzz!
