2006 Ultra 96ci FLHTCUI
Question about my 2006 96 CI FLHTCUI
When it is cold or warm well first it runs great. However it will puke or sputter just for a second or two and then it is fine.
Like in the first 5 minutes of running it is like it needs to puke to clean itself out then it is fine.
If one is going slow and turning a sharp corner and it does this it can cause one to really drop if you are not quick on the gas.
It is no big deal but just annoying.
Any thoughts. ??? The engine is fine, good plugs, wires and all.
Thanks!!! .
2. First check the easy stuff, battery cable connections, all fuses for tightness and lack of corrosion.
3. Maybe run some SeaFoam through for a couple of tanks of gas. Couple of tablespoons per full tank.
4. If many miles on the bike, when was the last time the fuel filter was replaced and other fuel system parts inspected?
5. Any codes?
6. May want to clean/check your Manifold Air Sensor, your Air Idle Control and your Air Intake Temp Sensor.
7. Your motorcycle is 18 years old, time to do some maintenance if it has not been maintained properly.NOTE:
The above information, while credible, is worth what you paid for it and should not be considered gospel.
Do due diligence, research and have a H-D Field Service Manual before working on your bike.
You will probably have many opinions and suggestions presented; make sure you research the person providing the helpful information as there are some who provide good information that is useful and some who speak out of other orifices with gibberish. You will figure out this quickly.
@Mr Whispers Mr Whisper.. Does it have a piggy back or other type of tuner on it besides the OEM system?
Is this something that has started occurring recently?

Granted fuel injection is usually smooth when cold.
Has it changed, is the bike new to you?
I am not putting a lot of thought into this yet.
