With all the great reviews I've read on this forum I decided to give John at Clearview a call today for a replacement to my stock 12" stock shield. He was very helpful in choosing the right shieldfor my needs and I now have a 9.5" smoked with the re curve on it's way to me. That's right it was shipped the same day I placed the order! Amazing from what I've seen with 6-8 week wait times. Good thing cause I have less thanzero patience!
Got my 6.5" dark grey recurve from John for my 07 SG as well and love it! I get lots of compliments on how it accents the bike without taking away from the Street Glide's aggressive stance. The Clearview shields are really top notch.
Just got through putting a CLEARVIEW SMALL (1" shorter & 2" wider then the OEM) on my '07 Road Glide and it was like night & day... I have better coverage the the OEM windshield and being 2" wider you can really hear the Ft Speakers better...
There windshields are thicker and you can (if needed) see clearly throught the shield with out any distortion.
Got mine for a Road King last week, 5-6 weeks but well worth the wait. I got a clear, 2" shorter than stock with a recurve. I am 6'1" and as advertised, the shorter windshield with the recurve provided the same wind deflection as stock, but now I do not have the top of the windshield vibrating right in my line of sight. In fact the added thickness all but eliminates any screen vibration. Some models come quicker than others but worth the wait IMO. Brand may not make a huge difference on some models with short windscreens, but for the fullsize windshields like Road Kings the Clearview seems far superior to me, but, like exhaust noise, handlebar height, denin vs shiny paint, fat vs skinny women, lite vs regular beer and wave vs don't wave...........it's all a matter of personal choice. One very good difference with Clearview is they have a generous try it if you don't like it, return it for something else policy. They ship it with a plastic film on it. They tell you to temporarily install it with the film on.......ride the bike, if you dont like it send it back tell them what you want different and they will change it.At least you wind up with a screen you want and not an "inventory" of windscreens in the garage from different vendors till you stumble on one that you find acceptable. That policy made a difference for me and where I chose to shop.
D.... could ya post some pics? I've read alot about them and presently run a 9.5 smoked I got on ebay and it's not bad at all but always looking for ways to improve.
I have the 1" lower light grey on my 07 RG and like it alot, the only problem I have had is the the HD chrome windshield trim does not fit well with it on as compared to the Stock sheild, I flares out on the sides of the fairing at the shield about a 1/2" or more. Doc
