Still, the harder bumps are disturbingly sharp and very uncomfortable. I probably should call them (again) but I feel like we've tried everything possible short of actual spring change. And the little foam slider/bumpers are of no help as they quit working within a year. They are loose and cannot be positioned on the main shaft.

I've got my eye on something totally different now.
Oh man, that sucks to hear. I am hoping the new spring and some tweaks will help. They have been great with customer service so far. I also wonder if I am expecting too much out of an after market suspension.

You should try the different springs. I bet that's what it is.

UPDATE: I have spoken with DJ at Pro Action Suspension a couple times. I carefully described everything about our bike, current shock settings and what it's doing during the ride. Suffice to say he gave me a significant bunch of data and got me to a starting point. Thus far...after several additional adjustments...the shocks still seem to bottom, even with strong spring preload for our combined weight. Something is not quite right, and DJ asked me to bring the bike back for shock evaluation and potential rebuild. Could be springs...could be internals. After an upcoming trip to NC, we plan to ride to P A and let them get to the bottom of this....no pun intended.

To be clear, I have absolute faith in PAS and DJ. Their products are excellent and I'm a believer. I'm sure they'll iron out my shock issue.

Very small incremental adjustments.

We have really enjoyed our PA Suspension front and rear. I’ve ran it now on 4 bikes, over 9 years and 100k+ miles.

I knew I needed a slight adjustment on the rears on the 22 RG. We were lucky to run into DJ from PA in Daytona and when I told him what I was feeling, he immediately said to add ONE turn of preload.

We got back home and as I was cleaning the bike I made the change. We rode 200 miles Saturday and I had not said a thing to the Carolina Girl. She knows suspension! We stopped for fuel 30 miles in and she asked what I did to the suspension. I asked if it was good or bad, she replied PERFECT!

George and DJ are experts. Call and talk with them. Always make very small adjustments. It does not take much.

I have the PA shocks on my FLHTK as well. At first I thought the bump stops were too loose to set and gauge bottom out. I was going to try the zip ties. Then I found out there is an O ring below them that needs to be moved up with the stop to hold them in place on the shock shaft. It's really hard to see, but once you find it, a small pick makes fishing it up much easier. No need for zip ties for mine.

Got a heavier spring from DJ and that was the key to what I was looking for. I agree totally with the small adjustments with the dampening. It is a big improvement over stock, especially riding 2-up. I look forward to getting the front suspension done to compliment the rear.

Look into the Intiminators from DK. I really like the improvements. Not harsh but no nosedive.
