Summery:
I purchased a rear rim for my 3005 Road King Classic on eBay.
I took the eBay rim, my old rim & tire to my guy and told him to put tire on new rims.
Turns out, the EBay guy sent me a front rim. When I messaged him he refunded me and told me to just keep the rim.
Situation & question:
eBay guy told me to just rethread the side of the front rim to bolt size and that it's perfectly safe to use it as a back rim. Said that hub, spokes, rim are all the same in that series except for bolt size.
Obvious question is....is that correct. I tried AI but to tell you the truth, I trust this forum with you guys more than I do this supposed smarter than us AI at least for now.
I won't share my opinion until I hear some of your.
Thanks
Oh yeah, already have it posted.
I'm just curious whether or not what he told me is true and safe.
You have yours. Compare them closely. Especially around were the tapped holes go.
My issue is you probably don't have the tooling to make sure tapped holes are square and gaged for fit.
I have a small machine shop that I put together for my son. I also spent a 46 year career in the machine shop field. The work needs to be correct for that rotor and drive pulley to stay secure.
The bolts coming loose locking up wheel could get you worst than dead.
