Depends on your buying area, that's for sure. I figured a late model RG (88/5speed) at a decent price with maybe some addons would be the way to go. Spent the last few months looking for a decent bike at a reasonable price and couldn't find anything I would buy so ordered a new one. More $$$ fer sure but it's got some nice stuff like Brembos, ABS, IDS and a few other tweaks from the '07's and you just gotta love having a new bike. Now I can build it the way I want to. Gonna be fun!

YES... and it's a NEW BIKE with a warranty - Ya just never know how well the other guy took care of his putt????
Bought mine second handed with 10K on the clock. When we went in to do the cams, found a warped cam plate and a bad oil pump. No telling how when the pump would have played out. The bike looked pristeen and had records. Added about $900 to my bill.

I've gotta agree with Phil. I bought an 06 RG in February new off the floor and saved very close to $4K. I'd read about issues with the earlier 07's and personally know a few folks with issues and wouldn't touch a new one back then. Saved a ton and can do a strong stage 2 and a Baker if I so desire and be ahead of the game. One thing that you may consider is how much need you'd have for the 6 speed... 95% plus of my riding on back country roads wouldn't allow me to ever get up to speed to use 6th. For me, it made sense to go that route. Weigh all the options and make a list of pluses and minuses and make your choice.

As mentioned above 19K for a flht is way too high. Are you talking flht or a classic??

I bought my 07 flht Aug 1/07 for $16800, that was $16,200 msrp plus a $600 shipping/set up/bullshit charge. It was the first 07 flht out that dealers door. I could have gotten a new left over 06 flht for about $14,800 but i did not like the color. I looked at many used E glides and the price spread between new and used wasn't enough. Bikes I thought should go for 10 to 12k were priced at 13 to 15K . I saw and ad were they were blowing out 07 touring bikes for 1K below msrp

Used can work if you get the right bike but .... new is new, unless I know the history of a bike I usually go new.

A little side story ... When i went in tolook the 07 they hadone on the floor with a price tag of 18K+. I said "msrp is $16,200, is that the price you actually plan to sell that thing at or is that the price for people who don't know how to dicker." Salesman said "Well if you are serious about buying we can talk" He than said "Sometimes people just walk in and see the price tag an say OK and right you a check" Can't fault them for trying to get the most $$$ they can. I have a hard time thinking an 08 flht is selling for $19K. Find out what they will actually sell it for than do your comparison.

No dealing on new bikes around here. I bought mine back in May, the day I picked mine up, three others went out the door. The dealers sold out of the FLHTCUI bikes back June up here. Then found more '07s CUs somewhere and put them on the floor now for a little less. Mine new UC out the door in May was $19,478.00 Standards back then were going for about 16.

07 SG are going for 17k, surely you can find a standard for less --- if you are set on a color that might be a problem

You could probaly doa lot better than 19k, if you could find an 07 Standard.

Sounds like the valve seal problems of '05 was a running fix. What seems to be the build date that it was fixed? Now I'm paranoid about a used '05.
