Watch the video of it, they have the controls in the left handle bar above the horn button.
Lights will tell you in what mode it's in.
And yes you can activate/deactivate it from there.
Want to turn left/right from a stop and get on it, hit the button and the gear come up.
Want to have it so it doesn't come down, hit the button.

It's not a full-time on system if you dont want it to be.
It's and AID to keep you on two wheels, I like the idea. Might take a minute for the learning curve.

I'm with @hattitude on the side car. Me thinks it's a way better cool factor.

Side car may feel more like a bike than trike

According to the video, the full system adds 40 lbs. to the motorcycle's weight.....that's a lot!

Conceptually I have no issues with a device that helps people keep their bike upright. I don't judge whether (or not) someone should be riding with an aid, as long as that aid doesn't compromise anyone's safety. I think about reverse gear and fully automatic transmissions. I think about voice-activated navigation which removes all need for map skills and memory...theoretically at least. A lot of us are already riding with many aids....hill assist anyone?....and enjoying them. A set of auto-deploying stabilizer wheels could be the aid that keeps a dedicated 2 wheeler on 2 wheels instead of a trike. When you think about it, a trike is the ultimate aid for riders who can no longer manage a 2 wheeled bike.

As riders age I think we'll see more innovations designed and intended to keep us out there on the road riding the machine we love.

Now, if I was ever going to get a trike, I would go big, or stay home.......

People go to trikes when they get old, why not stay on two wheels?
Why is there an advantage to riding 2 wheels vs 3? Some people realise it's time so they can keep riding. Maybe medical, maybe feel safer on 3. I'll wait here for one of your usual answers.

I would guess the bike with training wheels is more like riding a bike than machine with 3 wheels. Surely more so than trike.

Does this meet your expectations of my usual answer?
