Got a 2020 RGS. Installed the car play adapter in the fairing when I first got the bike. Car play worked PERFECTLY for 4 plus years. Now its been not connecting all the time. When I plug in my iPhone to the cable on the bike. It immediately starts charging the phone. But sometimes it NEVER hooks up to car play. If I shut the bike off and restart it. It might connect. Might not. Pretty much hit or miss.
anyone have that problem? Any fixes? I got a new adapter that I am going to install soon. But just checking to see if anyone else had the same problem.
appreciate any help.
I have fought with CarPlay connection issues in: my wifes VW SUV, my old bike with the boom GTS upgrade and my new bike where it came stock.
here are some tips to reduce the frequency of connection issues.
1. if your phone has a lightning jack, only use Apple cables.
2. If you are using the WHIM, do not establish a Bluetooth connection between the helmet and the phone. The phone should connect only to the infotainment system and the headset only to the WHIM.
3. If you use the WHIM, turn your helmet on before turning on the bike. It sometimes works either way, this seems to work better.
4. Never leave the CarPlay on while the ignition is in the alt mode. Again, this works sometimes, but sometimes it will not connect again after starting the bike.
5. Be prepared to just use the boom if Bluetooth wont connect.
