My new 2008 Ultra just arrived at the dealership (Its still in the crate). I asked them to add a riders backrest to the bike. The sales guy said that there wasn't a rider's backrest available yet that will fit the 2008 Ultra because of the design change to the seat.
Does this sound right? Are there any 2008 Ultra owners that have added a HD rider's backrest to your bike? If so, could you tell me the part number?
I have a 2008 FLHTCU. I installed 52572-03 rider back rest. It works fine, and is very comfortable. It's a challenge to get the thing off and on as the area in the seat where it goes is pretty tight. Other than that I'm delighted.
Tell them to leave your bike in the crate and go somewhere else because they evidently don't know what they are talking about. I just helped a fried install one on his 105th Ultra Classic and it's the same one I have on my 06 FLHTCI. Buy it, install it yourself, be happy and ride. Congratulations on the new bike.
My 08 Ultra is in the shop today for 1K service and I sent the adjustable set up from the road Zep package they called me an hour ago and said it wouldn't fit and that there was no current rig available for the 08 yet! Mine is the the universal off the 03 FLHT...Things that make you go HHHMMMM.
How did you get your Ultra so quick? I read your post where you stated you ordered it, and it would be here around the first of October. Congrats on the new bike, and getting it so quickly.
I'm asking because I paid a deposit on an Ultra on July 16th. The first anticipated ship date was August 24th. The lastest ship date was September 4th. But who knows when it'll get here. The dealer says they can't tell if it's shipped or not.
I ordered mine 1st of August and received it Aug 17 and that was even special order with ABS ( they had one on the list) and was ridin by the 19th...Is this a great country or what!
VA Ranger... could you take a look at your spots (passing lights) and confirm if they have replaceable bulbs, or if you have to buy the whole fixture when the light quits. Thanks.

I order and paid my deposit for a FLHX, with security, cruise and ABS on July 13th with a ship date of August 14th. The dealership called today and said they are now processing my bike and I will receive it maybe next week. Some dealerships get priority over others I think.

This issue with the Adjustable Rider Backrests is running the cable from under the seat to the lever mounted on the left fram rail. The hole that was there in previous year models is not there on the '08's.
