Thanks for all the replies. Sounds like the king is what I am going to want to get. I'm a little surprised its been so one-sided. Kind of rare to find these days, .
I really tried for several months to not put a trunk on my 2019 FLHTP when I bought it. But then I was strapping a bag to it, or going home to get the truck. So I bought the HD trunk and do not regret it. Going to put a trunk relocation kit on tonight. Give a little more space with wife or a camping gear bag. Might even get the side lights hooked up.
I ride solo exclusively and didn’t want the big backrest of the king, or the big holes to have to fill in the front top corners of the king lid if you don’t want to run the king wraparound backrest.
So I ran chopped tour paks on my last two glides and if I wanted to take a full face/ modular helmet for some of the trip, but not all of it, Saddleman makes a trunk that will hold it. $160 when I bought it.
Do you notice a difference between the two in the ride? I've heard some say they feel the king more than the chopped.
The king is oem equipment on all limited models through the anniv models in 2023 when harley stopped making them till the SG Ultra this year. The last chopped tour pak I had was on a 2013 CVO RG that I kept for 5 years. For a solo rider it probably would be fine but when i go on bike trips with my wife, we use every inch of space in the tourpak on my CVO RGL. To answer your question, you will feel the difference with the tourpak on vs not but Im so used to it, it doesnt make a bit of difference for me.
Skip the high HD price and buy one of each, king and chopped from Advanblack.
You still may save a hundred bucks even buying two. Then you have the best of both worlds. The chopped really looks cool, but for multi days the king is a must have.

I think the chopped are ridiculous. Either way you got a big piece of plastic on the back that you paid a bunch of money for. You are in denial if you think chopped looks better.

Why would you want less storage???
Why would any of us want to post on a motorcycle forum without having an actual running motorcycle? Or at least one we are attempting to get running.
