Default Rush vs. Screamin Eagle

Have had the SE 64910-99 slipons for several years. Have installed the RUSH 1.75. If you are interested here is my comparison: I ride with a Shoei 3/4 with no ear plugs, or a Vega 1/2 helmet with ear plugs. I find at 55 mph the SE are okay... at 60 and above I find they begin to sound annoying, not a nice rumble.

With the RUSH 1.75, I thought: 'Same as the SE' as I was riding easy out of the neighborhood. I ran with the Vega 1/2 with no ear plugs to see what they would sound like. I was very pleased at 75 mph as the exhaust never got annoying.

Summary: 1. It could annoy neighbors if your ride hard. 2. My bike is an 04 RK with the 88 CU, so an 07 or 08 could be louder. 3. It may become louder as the packing burns out. 4. The quality of the mufflers was very good. 5. The inlet is heavier guage than the SE. 6. The holes matched perfect, so if you buy seconds I see some have reported rear bolt alignment problems. 7. Also, be very careful with the internet deal at $212.00, as I read you only get one muffler... so I went Jamie at Fuel Moto.

Good Luck

I also ran the SE 64910-99's on my '96 Road King. Had them for about 4000 miles or so. Recently switched to a set of Rush 2.5". Huge diffference. At idle the Rush mufflers really talk. Acceleration volume is also louder than the SE's were. Cruising volume with the Rush's is actually better due to the lower tone of the exhaust note. Also, volume while under load (such as climbing a steep hill) is very different. The SE's had a much higher pitched tone, almost "brappy" sounding (I may have just made up a word!!). The Rush's lower tone is much easier to listen to.

Have had the Rush's on for about 1000 miles now. Ordered a set of 2.25" baffles to knock a little of the volume down from the 2.50"s, but I am really pleased with the quality and sound of the Rush's, especially compared to the SE's that I was running.

Good Post
I also have a set of 06 Screamn' Eagle Performance (2 piece) Touring pipes on my 97 Road King and don't like the dual jack-hammer cruising sound.
Thanks for the info. HogBack

BK....Yea..."brappy"... was the word I was looking for..... glad you like yours as the tone on SE is hard to describe as it does lose character under load.....

billy.... you may like them. As BK also pointed out, the larger 2.25s or 2.5s may have a deeper tone more pleasant tone over my 1.75s even if they are louder.... anyway I do like the Rush mufflers...

Take Care

Thanks, Hogback!

Perfect time for your review. I was going to run out to the dealer todayand grab a set of SE's, but I do believe I will order the Rush mufflers instead. I have been pondering back and forth for a couple of weeks now, so again, perfect timing. The only question now is do I get 1.75 or the 2.0 I was strongly considering.........[sm=confused06.gif]

Those Vega helmets are the bomb, ain't they?

When I went in after a week for my 1k service I wanted to pick up a set of SE mufflers. The parts guy first told me the didn't make them anymore, then upon looking them up said "oh yeah, we aren't going to carry those - you wouldn't be happy with them." Said I should pick up a pair of Rush 2" which they had in stock. There wasn't a bike to be found with them on to give a listen so I bought them "sound unheard" and couldn't be happier. At first I thought they were going to be too loud but I was wrong. They're perfect. Maybe could use some more packing after 5600 miles on them, but maybe not...

I have the Rush mufflers on my new 07 UC. The dealer I purchased the bike from told me they dino'd a test bike with the pipes and found that the 1.75 (left) and 2.25 (right) worked best. I believe the sizes are correct. By the way, I love the Rush mufflers. They sound great at all speeds. You can crank up the throttle and pee off your neighbor or cruise in comfort. Highly recommended.
