Default modified stock mufflers

I know there are some folks here who have bought modified muffs on Ebay. Anyone look them over to see exactly what was done?

I have a set of stockers off a '99 EGC. The PN has a -95 at the end so I think it's safe to assume there were no changes from the old Evo to the TC. I looked them over and found that on the inlet side there is 7" of perforated pipe before the plug. On the outlet side there is only 3" of perforated pipe before the plug. That leaves about 9" of pipe between the two plugs.

Has anyone cut up one of these stock mufflers to find out what lies between those two plugs? Would that section of pipe happen to be perforated as well?

I sure don't want to knock out both plugs. But I'm wondering if anyone has any experience in tinkering with these stock mufflers. Especially what might happen if I knocked out the outlet side plug only.

One other bit..... I'm not really looking for more sound. I'm 90% looking for better performance. I like to hear my radio!

Check the other thread. It started six hours before yours!

There's a popular tuner, DR. Dyno, that dials in bikes at rallyes. He's got a long rod that he uses to knock the baffle plates out of stock mufflers before he starts on the dyno.

I had my wife's 01 TC88 EGC mufflers recored by FullSac after her trike conversion and put them on my 96EGC. The baffle plugs and tubes are completely removed, you can see right thru them suckers, ... but they are not straight pipes. The stepped louvered replacement core tempers the tone, yet if you romp it, you get a bit of restriction free improvement. I put them on my 96 EGC and for the cost, am decidely happy.I still have my 96 originals mugglers, tho, just soes in case.
