2005 Road King. My stock Mufflers were so quiet they were embarassing!!!
There are two plugs inside each muffler separating the baffle chambers. I took the plug out that was closest to the engine in each muffler. I just used a long screwdriver to make four holes in the corners of the plug and then opened them up with a big pry bar. Then I used the bar from my exercise weights to round off the hole. They went from stone quiet to having that low tone Harley sound. I left the back plug untouched and did not have to program my fuel. If you want it louder, just knock out the other plug.
I hate to sound like a complete idiot, but is there anyone who has photos or crude crayon drawings of such an operation?
Not that I'm not pretty happy with my current mufflers - But I'm always open to suggestions that look completely stock and sound nice but not obnoxious.
I found this guy on ebay (bobvic2) that modified my mufflers. i found some 07 dealer take offs and had him do the work...i kept my 08 flhx mufflers just in case i didn't like the way they turned out. Well my 08's are still in the box. gonna keep my 08's just in case the noise police get too intense. he does a great job (IMHO) and turn around time is very fast. you can contact him on ebay search 'max performance' he responds quick to questions.
