Adjust Belt Tension When Installing Lowering Blocks
This is just a note to all. Many of us are lowering our rear suspensions or altering the rear suspension.
Make sure that you check your belt tension after doing the change.
I put on some lowering blocks (1 ") because I am only 5'6" with an inseam of 32. Took bike for ride. Heard a "Wherring" sound. Brought bike back to garage. would have sworn it was front wheel bearings. But, checked the belt tension. Wow, it was tight as heck.!!!!!
So, just wanted to pass this information along.
Good riding season to all !!!!!!
Be sure to check tire - to - fender clearance. I'm same size, only 155lbs, did same blocks and wiped out the rear wiring harness after riding 2_up with gf, she's 120lb.
06 FLHR. I put the blocks at 1/2" and went with modified seat, been good. (also lowered front end with Suspension Technologies fork cartridges and Sus. Tech. rear shocks.)

Not a fan of lowering blocks. Better ways to lower a bike.
I'll chime in that when I got my 03 Wide Glide the previous owner had put lowering blocks on it. The bike handled like crap on the highway of all things. VERY twitchy at high speeds. At first I thought it was just me because my Shovelhead which was my daily rider at the time had a raked front end. Nope. It was those lowering blocks. When I swapped them out with some proper shocks the twitchiness on the highway went away. I guess they were binding because of the increased angle.
