Just hit 10k miles and the bike is not fixed yet? Had the seal between the motor and the six speed trans replaced under warranty, is still seapping black all over the silver motor, around the whole section now. maybe it's machined wrong. but had a sales rep try to tell me that thats just the way the touring motor is and that the silver motor shows it more. I think it's B.S. Also the motor seems to be pinging like crazy now and itslouder than the radio. pinging after about 7500 mi. and put 93 octane it all the time and still doesn't stop the pinging. Should have kept the 02 lowrider. Just wondering how many others have any issues like this? especially with the seal between the motor and trans. had the electraglide 1 yr. now. and If I'm the only one with the seapage then I'll have to be calling the 1 800 # soon. gets black around crack after only 300 miles or so and not liking it.
I have the same bike and my 2007 std at 2200 miles is just starting to show it around the top of the seal .funny you should ask because I just called my dealer today about it and they said as long as it is not wet and just black use hd engine cleaner on it .I think it was called SS100 ,I will be keeping a eye on it .
Is it leaking? as in a puddle? mine almost from the start had a seep around trans/engine gasket(its inside but there is a gasket)ok oh well?,then at 3-4k it weeped, then at around 5k it leaks small puddle after starting or stopping but then it chills,, my garage has dots all over!. In june dealer vary quickly took bike back and tightened (4) bolts that hold.did nothing. last week they did a dye test with black light and this friday they are going to replace gasket.
They were 100% understanding and would fix on the spot, but will take 1&1/2 day job ...ooch,is under warrenty. to be continued....
I have the same weep on my 07 Electra Glide. Pointed it out to the dealer and all they can say is clean it watch it and get back to us. I only have 4000 miles on my bike and this is not very encouraging to have this type of problem already. And yes there are many 07's out there that have the same weep.
Isnt this seal more towards the center of the mating surface? Is it seeping also on the bottom or just along the top seam? This is a pretty big job depending on which method is used.Might want to see if your bike is wet sumping. Is AC spitting oil ?
I have the same problem. 07 ultra classic. weeps on the seam. They said clean it keep eye on it (till its out of warranty), I have 6k miles and noticed around 3-4k. Just wet look now puddles yet.
Saw 2 bikes in 1 day on same ride leaking in puddles.
Rental bike owned Schaffer's HD Delaware Water Gap.07 glide couple riding back from Maine.
RKC 07 Hawks Nest NY. Route 97. Owner almost put it down oil on rear tire. leak was suppose to be fixed. seal at drive. Thats what he told me. After he calm down.
Both bikes had a little over 14,000 miles on them.
Do not drive bike with leaking oil on rear tire.
Just curious here, aren't the engine and transmission two different sealed compartments? If so, how are they leaking from the mating surface? I know on my 04, that I have a little black gunk that shows up on the top seam, but that is not a leak. That is simply metal that has worn off from the mating surface. I have scraped it off with a fingernail and rubbed it between my thumb and forefinger and the material appears to be a pasty, silver metallic substance. It is not oily at all. Is this what you are talking about?
Looked like tranny oil to me. HD primary plus oil. When bikes were on side stand (jiffy) leak looked like it was was from primary chain case drain. Final drive belts both bikes was wet dripping oil.
Call Schaffer" HD an ask the service department what the leak was? It was there rental bike. 07 blue glide.
