I tried a search on this but the results were confusing and overwhelming for my little pea brain.
I have a 2003 FLHTC with SE Slipons and K&N filter/air. I am looking at new cam etc, plus going from 88ci to 95ci
Not sure what else should be done alone with this. The question I have is dealer says I don't need
to go with a SERT or similar device (PCIII or Thundermaxx etc) but that the stage 2 download is all I need.
Is this true or should I look to have work done somewhere else? What work should be done?
If you use the h/d 203 cam (95" stage II kit) you could get buy with the download but there are advantages to doing some fuel management that are on a lot of post, you will get many diff. sugestions on what one, why, other cams, head work and so on do some reserch on the web talk to people decide what you wan't out of your bike and then make some decisions. Good luck .
I'd agree , if you go with thier canned upgrade ( poor choice IMHO) then thier ECM flash is adequate. If you choose to go with cams /headwork/exhaust that provide better power then SERT/ PC III is a very wise idea.. The 95" is capable of some great numbers and you can get a very strong build that will pull like a frieght train . Consider your budget and what the desired result is. I managed 105+ hp/torque on my 95 and it was rock solid, but I dropped $5K on it .
If you are going to do all that work to you bike, get some type of fuel management system. This will give you better adjustibilty, and make all that work worth wile. And after all that have it dyno tuned, you will be happy as a pig in mud.
Im just starting out with air and slip-ons. went in circles about fuel mng after reading mucho posts still somewhat confused. dealer sounded in favor of sert and dyno. So with nothin to help me make a concrete decision, bikes gettin dyno'ed with the sert on my modest upgrade this weekend. I will have nothin to compare it with but just hope it runs good the first time and ~~~$1200?? later[&:]
Check out one of these performance packages for a strong 98" build and get a PCIII. Make sure you get it dyno tuned at a shop that is certified PCIII tuner.
