Using the trip odometer to track oil changes sounds like a good idea..only problem is,unlessI am mistaken, mine (07 FXDB) only goer to 999.9 miles...:> I dont change my oil that often...:>
When my fuel light comes on it is a little scary, because if I shut the bike down it doesn't come back on when I start it back up. When it is on and I get gas (usually as soon as I can), it is 4.2 - 4.5 gallons to fill it up. I have been making some observations about my gas gage. I get righ around 90 miles to 1/2 tank and then the light comes on between 155 and 160 miles. Most of my riding is around town. We do Sunday trips out on the road and it usually comes on at 175-180 miles. Sometimes I wish we had a petcok with a reserve liek the carb bikes so I could run it out a few times but alas we don't.
Mine comes on a FIND GAS NOW OR WALK!!! I only have about .2 gallons left when it comes on. My 03 Ultra was the same way, I use the odometer always. 160 around town 190 highway.
The light on my 07 SGcomes on with a gallon left in the tank. The most I have ever put in is 4.7 gallons. That is a little closer to empty than I like to go.
06 SG here. Same thing. I usually add 4.2 at a fill-up. When the light comes on, I stop and fill. I'm not too choosy at that point but if I have doubts I'll at least put in enough to get me to another gas station. Pushing a bagger sucks.
I have a 04 EG my light comes on at different times so when I hit 160 I'm looking for gas... I did run all the way to 185 once and had about 1/2 gal left
So far my light comes on at 1/8 tank, and has about .8 gallon left. I have been averaging 42 mpg, so I expect the light to come on at 185 miles. Been pretty consistent.
Anybody look closely at the fuel guage? The 3/4 and 1/4 marks are closer to the 1/2 mark than they are to the full and empty marks. My Ultra goes about 140 miles to the half tank mark, then goes 45 more before the 1/8th mark when the light comes on. I have gone 208 miles on one tank. Took 4.9 gallons to fill it up. Scary.[:@]
mine hasn't taken over four gallons after the light comes on, i'm doing 190 + miles on four gallons, i'm sure that will change after the 107 kit.......
