Default Looking at street glides

Anyone have any comments pro's con's about these rides?

I have a 1200N now and will most likely keep it for jetting around town and such. But I'm planning on riding to texas next summer and I like the style of the street glide.

The suspension is lower in the rear by 1 inch which some people say makes a stiffer ride. I thik you will want a bit taller of a windshield. I looked at SG's to, but went with an EGC because of more two up riding. Lots of people change the seats to.I dont think of any cons of the ride just things you might like to add or change. Cruise control good for a long ride too. I think its now an option on 08's.

I said the same thing about my sportster, I'll keep it to jet around. Once I got the Electra, I couldn't hardly ride the sportster. It felt like a kids bike. I agree about the windshield, needs to be taller, and I agree about the 2 up riding. Borrowed a SG for a week to try out, and then a EG, we liked the EG better, more comfy.

I have an 07 street glide, took some getting use to the ride but DANG I do love it now! Put a taller windshield on, too old to eat bugs and get wind whipped anymore. J.

I also debated both and ended up with the EG classic. Took some stuff off to clean it up like the SG.

get the EGC --- you can easily turn it into a SG plus you have the tour pak which will come in handy on any tripall for about the sameprice

Like the SG more every time I get on but it took some getting used to.I really liked the seat, forward controls and buckhorns on my old Softail Custom. The SG basically put me in one position and I had to keep experimenting with the bars to get it comfortable.

After some fiddling, mounting the highway pegs, bigger windsheildand backrest it's a much different ride now. Really enjoy the tunes & the ride. Of course theTwin Cam has a little more grunt than my old EVO. The 6 speed is great as I do a lot of highway riding. Have never had the whine, clunks or issues that others have. Oh yeah, it's hot in traffic but it will be great in the winter!

If I had to do it again - I would still go for the SG, it continues to grow on me.

I got my '07 SG in June. I had concerns about the riding position when I took it out for the first ride (bringing it home). That passed pretty quickly. I purchased some extended reach pegs and mounted themon the engine gaurds. Theyallow me to extend my legs just enough, with my heels on the floor boards and toes on the pegs. It's been great. I purchased a quick release backrest and a better 2-up seat to use when my wife joins me. For me, it was the look...cleaner, lower. No matter what you buy, you're going to invest in options...seats, pegs, luggage....that's what we do. The great thing about the street Glide is that, with the quick release stuff, you can add is much as you want when you want it.....then you can return it to it's original look.Enjoy

I was looking to upgrade bikes in 05 and ended up buying an EG Standard. The SG were not available back then. The Standard is about $2000 cheaper than a SG. It depends on what you are wanting on a bike. Standard has trim on front fender, spotlights, silver engine, passenger floorboards. The SG has plain front fender, short windshield, fairing mount mirrors, radio, black engine, passenger pegs, no spotlights.
