I am installing a set of Vance & Hines Dresser Duals with the bungs for theO2 sensorson my 2005 Road King Custom and have encountered a little problem. I cannot get the bracketfor the leftside pipe to work because the O2 bung makes contact with the V&H mounting bracket.
I noticed that the bracket in the kit for the '07 bikes is a different part number than the pre-'07 bracket. I realize the '07's have a different engine, but I was under the impression the case would be the same.
The kicker is I bought the exhaust of a forum member that had the pipes installed on a '03 Road King and said there were no issues.
I called V&H last week to ask if the kit would work on pre-'07 bikes and the rep I spoke with did not really know.
Anyone else attempted this install ('07 pipes on a pre-'07 bike)?
I am going to try V&H again on Monday, but I would really like to fire the bike up this weekend! .
I don't know what your talking about on the '05. I have an 04 and I have the dresser duals and Ovals and they both went right on.
Post some pics.

Do you have the '07 pipes with the O2 Bungs or the pre-'07 pipes? This is the issue on my install the O2 bung on the left-side pipe hits the top of the mounting bracket so I can't put the pipe into the right spot and there is no way to tie the pipe to the mounting clip.
Has anyone attempted to install pipes with the bungs on a pre-'07 bike?
I went ahead and used a couple washers to space out thebracket for the right side pipe - this gave enough clearance to let the pipe sit in place, however, I still could not get the clamp around the pipe because the O2 bung is right in the way ofwhere the bracket and the pipe tie together. Everything seems pretty solid with the right muffler bolted up, but I am not crazy about running the bike without the head pipe tied to that bracket. The pipes sound really great. I plan on call V&H on Monday to see if they have a different bracket or another work-around for the bracket/O2 Bung issue for my '05.
If anyone else has ran into this issue, I would be interested to hear what happened.

Just something to consider:
I had to move my rear bung to gain the clearance for the DTT-TCFI sensor (since the Wideband sensor is longer than stock it was hitting the top of the transmission cover).
You might want to take a close look at it now if you are considering a T-Max/DTT as far as clearance issues.
If the bung is currnetly in a position that interferes with proper mounting then move it to a position that will allow you to use WB Sensors as well in the future.
Hope that makes sense--I haven't had my coffee yet this morning.

Good Luck.
Thanks for the suggestion - I don't have a welder, so where would be the best place to take the pipe to have it modified - a muffler shop, bike shop, custom welder? Also, do you have photo or suggestion on where to move the bung to make sure I don't have future issues? Sounds like you have beat the worst case, so I am thinking your location would be pretty safe for my future mods.
i have an 07, i didn't have any issues with the 02 bung. course, i'm using the bigshots true duals as opposed to the dresser duals which are just headpipes and still need slip ons. but, i can't see where they would make one different than the other. now, there is a different bracket to mount to the starter mount, did you get that with your pipes or did the po keep it?
