CB
I use my cb with a helmet headset and use the push to talk feature. When I push the button in to use hte cb I get all kinds of static through my headset. So much that I can't stand to use it. THe people on the other end says it sounds good to them. When my passenger uses her push to talk button for the cb she gets all kinds of static. My battery got hot shorted out and melted the negative post. I wonde rif that hasd something to do with it? Do oyu guys know what it could be?
GrayHawk ,,,,,
that does not sound good at all ,,,,,
did this all start after the battery was melted ? ,,,,,, I think what you are hearing is the intercom portion of the system making noise when you try and talk on the CB ,,,,,, and a portion of the audio system could have been damaged when the dead short occuredat the battery ,,,,
what caused the short ?

check the ground on the radio system at the antenna. Especially on the plate under the liner in the trunk. The cables are shielded to avoid static but if the ground isn't good, the shielding doesn't work.
