Security System and smart siren 2. Please help! I had a 2005 Ultra Classic and installed a smart siren 2, I traded it last week for a 2008 Ultra Classic. I pulled the smart siren 2 off of the 2005 and installed it on my 2008 but it doesn't work. It Chirps but it does nothing else. If I move the bike the lights flash and the bike won't start. I pulled the siren and then pulled the battery out of it thinking it would clear any configruation, but no luck. According to the 2005 Parts catalog and the 2008 catalog the part numbers are the same. How do i configure the smart siren 2 to work on the 2008 bike, does anyone know? Please HELP because the dealer is of NO use.
Can you set the alarm to a manual setting. I think I read somewhere that the 07 alarms would automatically set after the bike was shut down. Just a thought.
On my 06 I was told that it was married to the bike once it was installed. I hope somebody w/ actual experience on this chimes in to say if I was BS'd.
I used one off an 05 and it worked on a 07 bike. Maybe the 08s are a little differant. I was going to put one of those Radio Shack sirens on a 08 Ultra but will wait till I see how you make out with your 08. Doc
To confirm you question... I am assuming the 08 bike already had the security system in the bike... and all you did was to add the Siren Module?! If that's the case and the siren "Chirps" along with the lights flashing then everything sounds correct... To get the siren to sound when the bike is moved or disturbed the KEY FOB has to be a pretty good distance away from the bike.. Once the alarm sounds bring the key fob back towards the bike and it will silance the alarm..
If I'm mistaken and you installed the whole alarm system on the bike... the system has to be put in the "learn" mode.
Is the battery charged? I had to connect bike to battery tender to bring it up to full charge. About 2 hours.
Make sure you do not have key fob around bike. That is when your testing the alarm.
On the other hand when you set the alarm you need to have the key fob on /close to bike. Some kind of signal reading going on there. Just read instruction for mine. I have the pager unit with alarm.
I have the same problem as Schuffy and still haven't got it working. Just to clarify, we bought bikes with the alarm module already installed and working properly. We added the Smart System II Siren module. The siren will chirp when armed/disarmed, but when the alarm is triggered (with the key fobs far from the bike) the alarm activates as it should, kills the ignition and flashes the lights. But the siren never sounds.
I've tested my siren on a different bike (although not another 08 since I don't know anyone else with an 08 yet) and it works perfectly. My battery is fully charged (I ride every day). The siren can't be "married" to the bike or it wouldn't work on my Dad's 06 Road King. It worked fine on my 04 Road King.
At this point I'm thinking Harley changed something on the 08's that caused the siren module to be incompatible and they just haven't realized it yet. So far, Schuffy is the only other person I have found who has put a siren module on an 08. My local dealer says they haven't installed any yet, and have no idea why it doesn't work.
I also have a Ultra Classic SE, with Smart Siren 2 and Pager 2. I have instruction manual, but for some reason, my dealer can not make it work and neither can I. Am waiting for Harley tech support to tell us why. Harley thinks it should work, but so far can't tell us why it doesn't.
