Scuffy,
Be prepared to replace the battery after about 6 hours on the smart pager... It just eats batteries which aren't cheap.
I have one on my 06 FLH but only use it sparingly!
Have the Smart Pager on the '07 RG but only use it when the PUTT is away from ear shout or parked @ Hotel\Motel for the night... Haven't had the need to change the battery yet... Guess I better check to make sure it's working still???
I have the same problem as Schuffy and still haven't got it working. Just to clarify, we bought bikes with the alarm module already installed and working properly. We added the Smart System II Siren module. The siren will chirp when armed/disarmed, but when the alarm is triggered (with the key fobs far from the bike) the alarm activates as it should, kills the ignition and flashes the lights. But the siren never sounds.
I've tested my siren on a different bike (although not another 08 since I don't know anyone else with an 08 yet) and it works perfectly. My battery is fully charged (I ride every day). The siren can't be "married" to the bike or it wouldn't work on my Dad's 06 Road King. It worked fine on my 04 Road King.
At this point I'm thinking Harley changed something on the 08's that caused the siren module to be incompatible and they just haven't realized it yet. So far, Schuffy is the only other person I have found who has put a siren module on an 08. My local dealer says they haven't installed any yet, and have no idea why it doesn't work.
I installed the Smart Siren II on my '08 and it works fine. I don't think they have changes anything.
Unlplug the siren, gotta discharge the internal holding circut of the siren itself which will allow the re-set.. Make sure the bikes main fuse is pulled before you re-plug the siren back in.. Then re-install the bike fuse........... all should work.. if not the siren module is not resetting and has an internal failure
