Default ipod...A great solution

Hey all:

I recently came up with my favorite solution for the ipod and my ultra. Harman Kardon has had a solution for the car called drive and play. I have had it in my car and recently upgraded to the newer version. Having the older one, which is still currently available, to use, I put it on the Ultra and it worked better than I thought. First, the screen fits nicely on the Ultra's "dash". The controller fits well next to the brake reservoir.

With the drive and play you have your ipod locked in your trunk along with the controller of the system. You have full access to all your songs and play-lists. The best part is you can get a drive and play for about $75 at Amazon. The original price was about $200. As a bonus, the unit has an auxiliary input and the controller allows you to switch sources. I use it for my voice on the GPS, but many would use it for satellite radio.
The install is easy if you are familiar with basic 12Volt installs and the solution is great. This is one of the best things I've done to the bike. Also, the screen mounts to the dash and looks like it came from the factory. See the pictures below.

The controller allows you to go forward, back, skip etc?

That looks great! Did you have to drill a hole in the dash to mount the screen?

Yes, you have full control of the ipod. The interface is a bit different but all functionality of the ipod is too.

And yes, the screen is screwed to the dash. And it looks even better in person. Thanks for the compliment.

Looks great and thanks for the post. Do you have the stock numbers of the older and newer versions ? There are quite a few on ebay right now.

Thanks

Hey Boogey:

Thanks, your welcome. The one you are looking for is simply the "Drive and Play". The newer model is the Drive and Play 2 and is significantly more expensive at $400.....Major enhancements are color screen and more expandability.

For our bikes and even your car the Drive and Play is killer... And at $75 bucks it is a steal. I've been using it for almost 2 years.

Yes, the round **** near the front brake lever. Everything is controlled by this ****. All components are separate and run to the trunk for connection. You can see the controller in my trunk in pict. 3.

Thanks for the compliment.
