No real advice on what to get but you should consider modifying parts in groups to save on labor. For example: New handlebars? Do grips, chrome controls, braided lines etc. at the same time to save on labor. All that stuff has to be taken off and replaced any way. That sort of thing. Have fun and don't forget the pics. I don't know about everyone else but especially like the "before and after" pics.

i looked at the Ultra... i do like it but, i didn't think the additional features of the Ultra would be very useful to me to justify the price difference.
i know if you add up the features it will tally way more than the price difference.
sometimes it sucks being a poor slob

FX, Welcome to the touring class. You are going to notice a big difference in the ride and the feel. About the accessories, I would go for the cruise first, stage 1 kit, oil cooler and touring mufflers (HD). The "bling" can be added as you go and the wait will be much more enjoyable. I plan on adding the cooler to my RK in the spring. Depending on how much you ride in the winter you might want to consider electric gloves etc. I have the HD pair and wouldn't be without them in the cold. We have had a couple of 27-32 degree mornings here in LA (lower Alabama) and the gloves have been great. You will have a little less wind on the classic so you may just want to try it and see what you think. Hope you enjoy your new ride and the forum.

Is your local dealer the HD store on Pulaski/rt40. Have you tried Laugermans in York? The there is always Battlefield a little bit more of a hike. Then again sound like Lancaster is treating you well.
Oh and hmmmmm-air cleaner, SERT and (Oil Cooler or Pipes) that should take care of the Grand.

Save the money on all the small nickel and dime stuff.....Upgrade the motor to stage II. My dealer installs it for $995 and that's parts and labor. If they give you the parts then you are in there.....
Power is the bomb.
Good luck.

I would do cruise and Stage I with a Sert, Power Commander or other EFI management system, and DO NOT do the all but worthless flash IF you get an EFI system, but even that is WAY over you 1k, then an oil cooler, and bling LAST. I am a firm believer that "chrome don't get you home"
The cruise is just a must on long rides.
The stage 1/EFI system is going to address performance, but more importantly, heat issues that seem to be worse on the 06's than the 05's because they are set so lean to meet the EPA Regulations.
As far as lowers I spent on Road Dawg leather lowers, they work great, can go on and off in about 1 minuet and pack down so can be used in rain as needed in the summer.
You are probably going to lust after a new seat Mustang Tourer with rider backrest, maybe Progressive 440's in the rear, new Z Pads if you get a squealer instead of a moaner, ahh I mean loud brakes, so you will find things to spend money on.
All this my 2 cents so that is what it's worth..................

I was gonna mention the Rider Backrest also - Cruise Control is great and for the type of trips you mention you will never regret the backrest - Easy to install yoursefl by the way
Cams, pipes and stage 1 is the first thing I did when I first bought my EGC. I was real happy for quite some time after that. Then I just added on a little at a time. Have fun. Ed
