I bought my first Harley, a SuperGlide, in June. I’ve made several road trips of 1k miles plus I take one of the days every weekend and day trip. Every other weekend my girlfriend is with me which she likes to do… I think you know where this is going

Since the beginning of October, when I had my 5k service done, I’ve been admiring the Classic. I’ve talked to my sales guy several times about trade in and all that…

Yesterday, I made the mistake and took a brand new Classic on a test ride…

So my dealer has a promotion running until the end of December of $1k of goodies for free (almost, I have to pay to have them installed)…

My question is this;

What would the bagger vets suggest to use the 1k on?

I was thinking an oil cooler and cruise control… my SuperGlide got real hot this summer to the point of step 2 in it’s programmed “cool down mode”. And my hands go numb…

Rear speakers maybe…

I’m more for function and not about the bling bling… at least not yet

FX...soon to be FL,

Let me spend some of your money, but, don't expect me to stop at $1000!
I concur with the cruise
Heated grips are wonderful!
I like the HD radar detector, it's a good detector and a great installation.
You may want the Ultra lowers for the cold weather.
Definatly the stage 1 kit, air filter and remap. The mufflers are optional.
And for the best,(read most expensive), a 6 speed tranny. I LOVE it, it really costs too much but, I would do it again.
Oh and as far as the oil cooler thing, look at the cooling fan, it's ugly but if you think about it, when you need the oil cooler you are sitting in traffic and there is no air flow through the cooler. The fan works better.

FX,
I would break it down like this. Since you gotta pay the dealer to do the install, I would make a wish list of all the things I would want done. Then I would prioritize them by importance to me. Once I have that done I would start at the top and figure out which ones I would be better off having the dealer install and which ones I could do myself. Once you have that done its easy, take your top picks that require a dealer install.

Good luck

Bill

FXDI
I went through this, and went for the Ultra and got lowers, cruise, intercom ect. Wonder if your dealer would give you a credit against the bike instead?
As far as my priorities, it would be cruise, then oil cooler.
Who is the dealer if I might ask? I'm in Md, just not in the woods anymore LOL

You may want a different windshield (or two) for different riding situations, a new air cleaner with download or SERT and exhaust (if you want to keep the bike fairly quiet you can get Harley's touring mufflers), and cruise would be nice.

That right there would gobble up the 1K at most dealers. Good luck!!

i can't stand the dealer in my area... even though it's 3 miles from my house... they don't use any lube when trying to screw ya [:@]

i go 40 miles away to Lancaster PA... very nice peeps there and willing to give any information they can and will take time to answer your questions.

well, it looks like cruise is a given....

next would be the stage 1...

oil cooler...

also, if i go over the 1k, they give 15% off.

I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take an Ultra for a test ride. Then consider the bang for the buck.
