I have a tough lower back and I have the adjustable backrest on my street glide. My chiropractor tells me to go riding more because my back is always better after I go riding now. Love it for the long hauls. I did have to putthe spacers/longer bolt in the front mounting point to lean back further. I felt to crowded even with it all the way back before I did the mod. There are a few other posts on here if you search rider backrest that are helpful.
I have the HD adjustable backrest on my 07 Ultra Classic. I'm 6'2" and after bending it back, it feels much better. The only problem is, with the adjustable backrest, noone's heat shields fit.
Has anyone figured out either a different place to mount the adjustment lever, or a way to modify the heat shields so you can still access the adjustment lever?
Just tonight, on eBay, I won an auction for a Road King Custom driver's backrest. The ad said it was used once, in perfect condition and came with all of the hardware. It's not the adjustable one, but it only cost me $127 plus postage. So, it might be worth you while to keep your eye on eBay.
I just got a new Mustang seat with the back rest. I have a broken vertebra in my back and this seat has made it possible for me to ride for long periods with out having to get off and crip around.
