Compass sucks too.
compass, who needs a compass? sun rises in the east and sets in the west, if its morning, and the sun is on your left, your headed south..... what more do you need to know
I agree. It was on the bike when I bought it.

Man I am glad my dealer is at least in my opinion "pretty good." I imagine that has a lot to do with the fact that I to are fortunate enough to have 6 dealers within about a 40 mile radius from me.

Thanks for all of the input. I did take the bike because it was only the air temp gage. I was really disappointed in their service or lack of service. They did call and say they were able to get it finished. I do remember the days of living in PGH PA and having many dealers to choose from. The next closest dealer is 80 miles away with the third at almost 100. ohhh for the good old days. One ending thought... I love the bike, it has not given me any problems in the 1st 1000 miles.

I finally thought of a good replacement for that dumb-A** air temp gauge. I'm going to Staples and get me an EASY Button, that should bring a few questions when I ride.

attitude was give up and spend more money at the dealer.
I just sent my third certified return receipt to the MOCO about my gauge.
If I do NOT get a straqighr answer that it is covered under warranty or not, then I get an attorney involved.
But in my case I am trying to show a pattern from them of the fact they don't give a sh.t about you after the sale of the bike.
Been collecting all this year.
Hopefully a sympathetic judge will be on my side.

My attitude? What's wrong with my attitude?

I have personally written three letters to Harley with concerns/complaints. What have you done?

I'm realistic to the point of knowing the dealers have to deal with crap fromHarley, too, just as we do. At least I have a dealer who admits it.

ORIGINAL: choochoo

Your attitude and many others like you is exactly why the gauge and other thingshas never been corrected by the MOCO. If EVERYBODY would persistently voice their displeasure to the dealer and MOCO it and other things would be corrected before the sale.
But HD knows so many of you will go out and buy their flimsy excuses and a different gauge so theywon't fix it or anything else. Why should they when they know you all will keep coming back with your proverbial tail between your legs and spend even more money with them.
Now it's the IDS what will it be next year on the 08 ans 09's?

ORIGINAL: MNPGRider

I have never known a temp gauge on a Harley to work accurately, and my service rep will back that up.

Replace it with an oil temp gauge or compass.

Your dealer sucks. Ours gives us a demo bike to take out for dinner, and when we get back, our prepaid service work is done.

Band together and refuse to BUY their crap (words and hardware).
Enough band together and stop, they will get the message.

I would love to visiting the dealer at times as some of their attitudes suck however I love my bike and have to go there sometimes. I will admit that most of my accesories are bought online anymore. I do not want to give them any of my hard EARNED money.

Adding my experience on my first HD an 07 RKC, on the first ride 30 miles from home oil started
pouring out of the air cleaner, call HOG they get a tow-truck out there, since Ididn't know what the
heck was going on with the oil coming out. While loading the bike onto the tow trailer I push down
on the handlebars to compress for the tie-downs and the handlebars go down quite easliy, when we
get to the dealer I explain all that needs done and the dealer says it is a common problem from
Harley, he says they actually over-torque them to get them solid. Pickup my bike a few days later,
handlebars are still in same down position and oil is not entirely cleaned off of the pipes, I took the
bike anyways, cleaned up myself and pulled handlebars back into position. The handlebar clamping
device on these RKC's is garbage, are there any better after-market clamps available?? cause I would
change them out in a heart-beat

Yep, get a one piece top clamp. You can also replace the bushings with poly ones. Should help your issue. The one piece clamp holds a lot better than the stock two piece job. If you ever move to higher bars, like I did with my apes, you will really notice the difference. I still get some slippage, especially when I hit a big bump. When I contacted the manufacturer, he suggested using some set screws. So, this winter, I will tear into it and drill some holes in the top clamp and a couple of set screws. It doesn't really bother me, as they are tight, and I really have to try to move them, unless the bump comes along, LOL. Besides, I need something to do this winter. LOL[8D]

I go to the dealer ONLY to make purchases I am unable to find anywhere else , such as "O" rings, grommets, certain gaskets / replacement parts , etc. If there is something I am unable to do myself { rare } I have a local "indy " shop that does good work, without robbing me !
