It was said to me that the cams now have bushings in place of berrings the only down side that I know of other than that all the changes seem solid and I can tell you if I had a choice between a 07 & 08 the 08 takes it hands down I have been on a 08 and realy think it is a great improvement on earlyer models. I also was told that there were like 118 changes 07-08 and next year something crazy like 354 changes?Dont know of what exactlybut a good friend(that I trust) was talking to people@ kury and they implied that that is the # of changes for next year butdid not get into why the # of changes were so many.
I dont have any experience with an UG pre -08. But, this particular 08 is a fantastic bike. Please be kind to the 07 jockeys for they are good people.
Another difference I noticed. There appears to be a new engine mount in front of the front cylinder, attached to the frame. Anyone want to name it?
Woody
It's not a new mount, just moved from under the tank. I predicted a while back that it will be Harley's newest chrome accessory, because right now it looks like crap ! You can't see it much on the Ultra, but it sure sticks out on the Road King !
The mechanics like it though, as it's easier to get to for alignment adjustments.
I didn't have an '07 Ultra, but I did discover another change (I believe) that made me happy. Yesterday I installed the electronics of an Ultra to my Classic including rear speakers, intercom, and CD module. Instead of following the directions and running all the cables under the tank console, I decided to run them under the tank. Wow, what an easy deal that was. No cross over line to cut and reinstall, just the quick disconnect fuel line and 4 bolts. A 5 minutes job. It also has a cable tray under the tank.
