This is a no brainer. The Classic, all the way! It's the best bang for the money and a better ride and that's coming from a SG owner.
If I had to do it all over again it would be the classic. You can always turn the classic into a SG without spending the bucks. You just have to remove what you already paid for.

No contest...........EGC over SG.
I have an 02 EGC.
Were I to do it all over again........................Ultra. You can always remove the stuff you dont want, and that is far cheaper than buying lower and trying to add on later after you discover that you now "need" the tour pack, or the nicer pillion seat, or the CB...................................

Lots of good advice here. Thanks. I think I already know the EG is better for our style of riding. From Virginia this year we have gone to Chicago, Linconia, Gatlinburg. We've toured most of the Mid-Atlantic states and we are leaving Saturday morning for Memphis and down in to Arkansas. We take our trips based on the "Road Runner" magazine. Did Colorado and some of Utah last year. All this was done on my 2002 RKC with a borrowed tour pak. Anyway, I guess the SG styling has me somewhat hooked and I was looking for some justification for buying this bike, knowing we really need an EG. I really like the bag rails as I have seen what happens to them with a simple tip over. I have to say I really, really dislike tank decals as on the EG and as silly as this may sound I would have to have the tank refinished with some sort of emblem. I am so confused. The RKC is a great bike and has served us well but I also like to larger tank on the 08's and I am sold big time on the ABS. I was behind a friend who went into a skid a couple of months ago and it was not a pretty sight. I had a front row seat riding right behind him. He broke a shoulder but otherwise the accident could have been a lot worse. A better electrical; system would be nice as we have heated gear and other electrical requirements. I don't have to sell the RKC and may keep it as I have a ton of money in it including brand new 07 SERK wheels and rotors. Thinking of keeping it for weekend rides and short trips and using the SG/EG for longer trips. As I am starting to ramble, I will end with another thanks.

Exactly, read my post above. Throw a radio in it and lose the trunk.

I just got a Streetglide, and in the deal, the dealer threw in a detachable tour pak, the backrest for it, and the hardware. Looks of the flhx with the extra touring option. We go to the east coast every year or so and the storage is good.

I might just agree. I have the Street Glide and dressed it up a little for better 2-up and touring. I've spent near as much as an Ultra. too much chrome on the Ultra fo rme, tho'.

No, really.
