Default Cruise Control Installation

I have an 07 Electraglide Classic: How hard is it to install HD cruise control ? the dealer wants $300.00 plus the kit to install which will total over $600.00. Can this installation be done by anyone or does it require a tech.

If you are comfortable with basic tools and reading/understanding written instructions you will be fine. Took me an hour or 2. Hardest part was routing thethrottle cable under the tank.

I don't think it is that hard but I chickened out and had the dealer do it. However I believe the labor was half what your dealer wants.

Just Installed cruise on my 06 EG standard. Cost $313 total. Works perfect. Just follow directions, no problem.

I agree, easy install, BUT be sure to understand what you are doing when removing the ignition. Install took me about 2 hours. Making the ignition switch work properly again took another 2 hours. I did not pay enough attention to taking it apart and had to realign things before it would work properly again.

Ride Safe,

Mike

Same as Streetglide2006, piece of cake to install, initialize; ignition switch was about a 2 hour time waster for me too. Works like a charm though!

Thanks for the info thats what I was hoping to hear. I'm kinda handy with tools so I figure I'll give it a shot and make sure I keep my favorite hammer close to make things fit.

You have to take the ignition switch off to get the lower inner fairing off for the plug and wiring. In the directions it tells you to lock the forks when you take the switch out. The problem is, at least for me, when the forks are locked you can not get the lower fairing cap off. You can take the ignition switch out without locking the forks. You can also unlock the forks once the ignition switch is out. If you unlock the forks you will have to reset it back to where it was originally for it work properly. Just a little FYI for you. I have an 07 SG so I don't think there is much difference.

BTW, After rereading the manual for the ignition it all went back together just fine. Just be sure to follow the instructions exactly and no problem.
