Factory alarm just plugs into exsisting plug, siren snaps in without tools in 1 minute after you take off left side cover, cant get any quicker or more easy than that.
The difference between using the RS alarm and the Harley Smart siren is the fact that the RS siren does not have a self contained battery whereas the Harley one does... Does that matter? Cutting the power souce to the RS siren will silence it... But the Harley Siren will continue till it's own battery dies.
Yeah, but I figure by the time they get to the wires, it's been screamin' for a couple minutes. And actually, driving a sharp object through the right side cover in the right spot would most likely silence the HD siren too........
With the Scorpio system, they can silence the alarm or whatever, but they won't be riding the bike anywhere. The alarm cuts off the fuel injector power wire (or the ignition wire on a carbed model) so the only way they'll be getting the bike is to pick it up and cart it off. And the pager is still going off. And a backup battery is available too as an option.
Smart siren II with the optional pager system. Love it! It takes 15 min to install if your taking your time and it was very nice to have in Myrtle Beach this weekend. The pager worked from the bike parking lot up to my room at the hotel. So I had the piece of mind that if somone messed with the bike I could mess with them!
I am confused. I bought an 08 SG w/o an alarm but would like to install one. Do I have to buy the security system and the smart siren II? Are they essentially just plug ins?

Yes they are seperate parts, and they do just plug and play.
This is such a great website. Just did this mod to my 08 Ultra. Took me longer to remove the saddle bag then it did to hook the siren up. Thanks everyone
I just remembered, the Aritronix Scorpio system also plugs directly into the HD harness (or any bike, you just specify and they send you the proper plug)the only wire that is cut is the power to the fuel injection or the ignition wire. It also took about 15 minutes to install, total. And I can remove the whole system and take if from one bike to another. The siren is a 6-tone unit similar to the better car alarm systems. Definitely one of the best accessories I ever bought, and installed.
