I already have the IDS so I guess it doesn't affect me..but I haven't heard anything about free dealer installs. Someone want to post a source for this? Kinda sounds more like a rumor to me.
I just got back from my dealer and I saw the bulletin and it states that Harley will reimburse the dealer up to $100.00 for the IDS install from 10/1/07 thru 1/31/08......
Wow, I'm suprised they're doing that - kudos to the moco for finally listening to all the people with problems. Although I didn't have clatter problems I do like the IDS and it seems like I can run at a lower rpm without as much noise.
The program is called Elbow Grease and the IDS is one of many parts eligeble for the $100 rebate. Starts 10/1/07.
Tell you dealer to check HD Net! ( Dealer web access ) Either they don't know or are affraid to have a job put off till the 1st. Harley has done this program several times so far, it's free money!
You have to purchase the item and have it installed at the dealer.
The promotion should be available to the public on the Harley retail web site on 10/1.
Wouldn't have known that if you hadn't said it; if it's even true.
Don't you know the 05's had problems and the parts that fixed them ended up stock on the 06's+ etc.
Problems the MoCo back fit on the 05's at no cost to the owners...
HD has done this thing before..they should do it again.
Yes, they were problems. The non-IDS-ness of an '07 is not a problem, however.
Why are you always trolling the IDS threads glens... bring up this BS again and again and again.
Google - Define: Problem
-An unplanned or unexpected deviation from a predefined standard or expectation.
-A discrepancy between existing and a desired state of affairs.
-a state of difficulty that needs to be resolved
-A deviation from a specified standard.
10 threads of people'sproblems being fixed by the IDS is my evidence...your evidence?
Glens, your just another troll

Being a lucky buyer with no "discernible" noises,or vibrations, think I'd rather wait and see how IDS works out when some miles are put on them. Might even wait until the first tire change, even if it does cost me some $. One of those "don't fix it if it's not broke" kind of things...

I doubt a dealer would do a free install when you buy the parts off the internet
Are these people the same ones that take there own bacon and eggs to Dennys and have them prepare it for them ? C'mon people dont tell me you have the ***** to ask your dealer to install a part you bought somewhere else !!!
Smart service managersoften do non in-housesale installs, they are the most profitable because you can't lose moneyif the part shipped does not fit,is defective, poor product technical support,no warranty to worry about and if customer does not like product once installed, can charge again to take it off. From my experience it sure didbeat competing against the mail order magazines and internetbefore I retired from my automotive performance shop. Better yet, installing Ebaypurchases that don't work, the customer was always happy with us but notalways the supplier.
