Had an IDS installed on my 07 Ultra, paid no labor because of the $100 service credit for the part. This is nation wide so don't let dealer tell you their know nothing about it. As of 10/1/07.
I doubt a dealer would do a free install when you buy the parts off the internet
Are these people the same ones that take there own bacon and eggs to Dennys and have them prepare it for them ? C'mon people dont tell me you have the ***** to ask your dealer to install a part you bought somewhere else !!!
...and one wonders why dealers lose their cool sometimes..
"Hi, I just got this part of the internet because it's cheaper, and now I'm looking for a free install, ...would you do that for me?" "Ooh, gee, sorry, I guess not, huh?"
Thanks for your post regarding IDS. My service mgr. is playing stupid. As of yesterday he knew nothing about the install. Would u mind checking back with your dealer and ask him exactly what this upgrade is called, and where other dealers might find it on the Harley Home site? I guess I am gonna have to do the leg work myself to get my dealer to fess up to the 100 bucks.
The program is called Elbow Grease and the IDS is one of many parts eligeble for the $100 rebate. Starts 10/1/07.
Tell you dealer to check HD Net! ( Dealer web access ) Either they don't know or are affraid to have a job put off till the 1st. Harley has done this program several times so far, it's free money!
You have to purchase the item and have it installed at the dealer.
The promotion should be available to the public on the Harley retail web site on 10/1.
If your going to buy online from Zanottis then just take a road trip between now and Feband have Zanottis do the Install... else you could just notbe a Pus**y and simplyinstall it yourself.

What details do I need to give my dealer if they play stupid. Is there more information you can give me? I will be going to Latus Motors in Portland, Oregon. Thanks.

not trying to be a dick, but have we lost the ability to read? this info has been posted at least 3 times in this thread, and still we get the same questions....
I dropped by the dealer ( Frazier's) and they showed me the "Elbow Grease" sheet with the IDS break of $100. The Service manager had just done one and told me they had 1 left in stock, if I was interested he'd put it on while I wait first thing in the morning. Picked it up for $277 including tax. He's even giving me last months oil change special price .
