I have physically seen the rebate for from Harley about the free IDS install. There are several other items on the list such as chrome front end, slip on mufflers stage II 103 kit builds etc. It is conditional on purchase from the harley dealer and has to be on the work order that you purchased the part for them to send in the forms to HD (according to the SM).
So basically if you bought it someplace else,it wont be installed for free.
I'm just hoping and waiting (but NOT holding my breath) for the MoCo or an aftermarket to come out with an IDS for '06's and older. I'd like one on my 2003.

I don't know any details except that it would have to be SE parts. It could either be a 100.00 labor credit or totally free labor - I am not sure as I did not read that part of the form.
I have an 07 flhx and I love it. It is my first harley, though I have been riding the roads for 25 years. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but I must admit that having never owned a big twin before, I am not sure what "noises" to expect. I do get a noise at high rpm that sounds like it may be some pinging, but I still have yet to commit to that diagnosis. However, what I do know is this...I have owned 5 kawasaki GPz 1100's dating from 1982 to 1984 and they all had what HD calls the ids way back then. I never had to do any kind of repair or maintenance to this system. sorry for being long winded, but for thos of you wondering about how long this thng should last...some of my GPz's had over 50k on them and all were fine. That is on a bike with double the torque than most of ours, so no worries. just my 2 cents, scott
I just got back from my dealer and I saw the bulletin and it states that Harley will reimburse the dealer up to $100.00 for the IDS install from 10/1/07 thru 1/31/08......

Reimbursing the dealer is not a rebate. There are dealers that will keep this for themselves, perhaps mine as I am having the IDS installed tomorrow and they have not heard of it.
Lets see the MoCo offering dealers that are losing sales of IDSto discounters, 100 dollar rebates for installs???And you still dont come out much ahead!Save those receipts because I dont think this mess is quite over.
Help...spoke with my dealer regarding "elbow grease"...claims that this is something that Harley has had for quite some time, but is mainly for customers who have bought bikes in the last 60 or 90 days, and they are offering some special. He still is not aware of the IDS install or reimbursement, unless those that are getting the IDS installed now are bikes that are within the 60 to 90 day scheme of things?
Can anyone, or does anyone really know for sure about the free install or special bulletin, and if so I guess I gotta draw my dealer a bigger picture. What page is it on and what exactly does it say????
