I purchased my UC Nov 06' At the time they offered 10.9% interest rate, with 6 months of no payment and no interest. I took that deal thinking I could refinance with them at a lower rate and keep my money in the bank for that period. I have a high FICO score and didn't think I would have a problem. When I called them to ask for a lower rate, they pretty much just laughed at me. I pointed out to them that I have been using there money free for the past 6 months and they didn't care at all. I thanked them for the use of there money for 6 months and just shopped around and got it refinanced at 3.99%.
Excellent credit here and HD wanted 7.99% last November. My local educational credit union was around 5%. Shop around it makes a big difference. I found the same thing on pre-owned cars. The dealers often can't touch the credit unions rates.
I purchase on 07 UC back in July and got a HD Financial interest rate of 4.99% for 60 months. That program lasted about 2 months. After that it changed to 7.99% for 60 months. HDF changes on a regular basis and if you can wait sometimes you can get a great finance rate.
I got mine also thru HD @ 4.99% and mine hasnt changed.
AMEX - 1.9% Locked for Life, with one late payment forgivness per year (in other words they won't jack the rate if you are late on one payment per year). That was a couple years back. It was kind of funny putting a bike ona credit card - that should not be possible.
