ABS/ OPTION
Well let me tell you what happened to me on my first ride with my 08 SG /abs. I took in out for a good ride It was my b-day that day and was like a new dad. Not really going that fast (trying to break it in right) on a two lane road in a town call Sturbridge Ma. As I was riding down the road with my sh*t eaten grin on my face not bothering a sole. Some tool decided to fly out of a gas station and cut right in front of me like a was not even there. Luckly I cover the brake with two fingers which was from my rice burning days when I had real brakes. Well mynatrual reaction kicked in and I hit the front brakes real hard. I mean really hard. What happen next was why after a 5 year tour of other bikes is why I now am back riding a HD. The abs kick in the bike stayed straight and stop so the tool could hurry up going where every he was going. Are the brakes good take it from someone who rode and owned06 BMW GT 1200.A bike that will stop on a dime. All I can say is if you don't like things abouta HD you can't include brakes in your list any more.
I'm all for ABS brakes. That's why I've ridden beemers and honda's (along with occasional harleys) for 20 years. Where were all you "gotta have" ABS guys then? If they're that great, why didn't many of you buy beemers and honda's? I'm just asking. By the way, I've gone down on abs equipped bikes. The same laws of physics applies. For the abs newbe's - they're not a cure all. Don't do what I did and get overconfident. That's what did me in!!

First of all I have never heard on anyone saythat abs is the be all end all to staying up on a bike. But on a wet road coming to an intersection where a loser runs a red light. I'll take the $800 abs option and the bremo braakes everytime. And for your info I too have been up and down on a bike a few times. Every time it sucked worse then the last one. What the newbe's out there need to know is not that the abs will give you a false sense of security but how a road rash on the a*s feels. That in my opinion is the best lesson they need tolearn. Because do it once and you'll think twice about what you are doing.

Why would we buy a beemer or honda? Not our style. We ride Harley-Davidsons.
Just got back from our 11 day trip. Back tire really wore out fast. Dealer in Bluefield, W.Va. took care of that on the spur of a moment. $99 tire, $98 labor, wow! Anyway, I locked up the brakes twice. Once at a screwy detour sign and once when two deer ran in front of us. Nothing dramatic. But it just made me that more determined to buy a new bike with ABS. The search begins tomorrow. Did receive an email from a dealer in Pudach, Ky. offering 20% off on parts and labor for engine performance packages. If he were closer I might jump on that.
