To those who have the Harley 3-Pocket Windshield Pouch #58900-98B....
I was hoping to get the measurement specs on it:
Length x Height x Depth.
Also does it mount by using three tabs that slide down in between the windshield and inner fairing then secured when the windshield mounting bolts are tightened?
I've been looking at the same thing for my EG,seems to me there was two different ones on the shelf at the dealers, the one you mentioned that slides down next to the windsheild, and another that had a four or five metal clips,to me it looked like it slipped down into the fairing and was held in place via the lip of the inner panel once the windsheild was re-tightened. I'm not really sure which is the correct one for my bike,so I'm glad you asked this question,i'll be checking back on this post, thanks
I found two different 3-pocket pouches on the Harley site. One being the part number I was looking at which is designed for the '96-later FLHT and FLHTC/U models
#58900-98B
and this one that is advertisted for the '94-later FLHR/C and '00-later FLSTC with Original Equipment windshields.
58904-03
Maybe it's the bottom one you saw at the dealer that has the metal clips. Possible those metal clips are used to mount the pouch to the windshield cross member, but I haven't a clue. Neither of the pics on the harley site show anything other than the front views. I added an aftermarket fairing to my Road King that excepts stock windshields so that's why I was interested in the one for the FLHT models.
This item is one way to hide the scratches from the pouch, and dress up your front end at the same time.
I e-mailed this company trying to get a plain trim without flames, but he only makes this style at this time. He said hopefully in the near future he would do custom jobs. http://www.clevelandsteel.us/
Thanks for the info Brian,
I wonder if a strip of window tint material across the bottom of the windsheild behind the bags would help with the scratching of the windsheild from the bags, thats something that could be replaced once in awhile when scratched....... and cheaper than a windsheild. the bags do look as if they would be very handy.
I was thinking about attaching some felt pieces to backside of the pouches to help cut down on the windshield scatching.
Currently I'm running a 7" windshield (and will be getting a lower one in the future) and wanted to make sure the pouch didn't sit too high in regards to the shield. Can anyone out there give at least how high the pouch is when installed sitting on top of the fairing?
I'd greatly appreciate it. Would like to know before I order it.
The measurements are 19" long, 2 1/2" deep, and 2" wide.
The bags will work with HD's 6" smoked windshield, but not the 4" model. Here is a pic with the bag and the 6" smoked shield. As far as scratches go, if you have a smoked windshield, you can't even see the scratches unless you reall look close.
I have a stock windshield and the pouches fit completely inside (behind) the windshield, just under 1/2" clearance on either end to outside edge of windshield. My measurements are the same as Bill's. As far as scratches, yes my windshield does have scratches mostly behind the right side pouch, and the pouches are hard to clean behind. But, I think the convenience of the pouches outweigh the inconvenience. I keep my MP3 player and Aux input patch cable in there while riding, and store my sunglasses in the center pouch.
