Been searching on the Web for a replacement Elite 3 Dunlop for the Ultra. I'm wondering if some of the deals out there are old stock. Requested from a couple of suppliers to return the date code off their stock, but not getting any replies. Makes me wonder if they are dumping old stock.
Have read claims that tires do go bad sitting on the shelf, anyone got any insight into this?
only thing i have heard that deteriorates tires is UV rays (sunlight). tires have a coating sprayed on them for protection prior to use. remember that your tires are very slippery when first installed.
The Dunlop "old" stock can't be any more than a year old. If you aren't aware, Dunlop was on strike just under a year ago (Nov 06-to just after the first of the year I believe). It took over 3 months to get my rear tire that I ordered in Nov 06 and received in early March 07. Chances are very good that you won't find an old tire.
Hello, I just bought a Dunlap front tire for my FXD Dyna, off parts unlimited Ebay page. I am oversees, and just got it today. The manufacture date shows 5823. There are not 58 weeks in a year! What is this all about? Its a futuristic tire, to be manufactured in mid-Feburary 2024?

Maybe Ebay's Dunlap manufacturers are sloppy copies/clones???
If you want to know the date codes of tires buy them locally where you can see them yourself. Many online businesses don't even have the inventory in the same place as the order entry personnel.
