The biggest problem when changing oil is that some fill it to the full mark when refilling the oil. It should be at the full mark HOT after an oil change after the bike is warmed up thoroughly, not filled to the FULL mark when refilling. It will push out the head breathers if you fill it to the full mark cold.
Usually 3 1/2 qts in the bike and then warm it up and recheck the level, top off as needed.
Oil tank w\filter - 4.0qts
Transmission - 32.0 oz
Primary - 45.0 oz
EDIT: DUH. mine's an 06, not an 07. Sorry about that.
man Pappy thats weird. My service manual calls for the following:
3.5 qts engine oil (page 1-9)
20-24 oz in the trans(page 1-19)
32 oz in the primary (page 1-16)
I never checked the owners manual, wonder why they are different. I changed my fluids last week and went with the above... my trans showed full at 24 oz.
