4 quarts in engine, but I would only do 3.5-3.8 to prevent blow by, etc.
1 quart in primary or until you can see the fluid just covering the bottom of the clutch
34oz in the tranny, but I generally just put in 1 quart
I struggled with the same issue. Here is what I did that worked for me.
Mobil 1 20W50 Synthetic from Walmartwent into engine and primary.
3 and about 2/3 quart into engine and it showed full
38 oz in primary I put one quart in plus 6 ozof left over from the quart that the engine did not take. You only put in 45 oz when you pull the entire primary cover.
32 oz of Redline shockproof heavy into trans. It helped out a lot with some of the 5th gear whine and the tranny shifts smoother than ever. My HD dealer stocked the Redline oil but I am sure that it can be bought elsewhere.
The Mobil 1 oil that I bought was purchased because it seems to get good reviews and was at Walmart for $8.23 a quart.
