Traded a Sportster and cash for an '01 FLHTCUI. It seemed ok running up and down two lanes here in the Ohio Valley. Last weekend I took a 310mi. ride to Canaan Valley, down to Elkins and looped back to the house. On 4 lane @ 75/80mph. long sweepers the bike wobbled. Not violently but enough that I rolled out of it. It did this repeatedly. The sharper the turn the more it wobbled. Never owned a bagger so I'm throwing this out to someone more knowledgeable. The sticker in the saddlebag says 0-15lbs. front and rear on the susp. I am running 0 since I'm only 5'7". Also 38lbs. of air f/r tires. Upon going over the bike more closely I found the front tire mounted w/rotation backward. Someone got an idea what else I need to look at?
I also run 35lbs front and rear, it took care of the wobble, I have 8700 miles and it looks like I need a new rear tire. I am going to Elites or Metzlersl
If it still wobbles after you do everything else suggested in this thread, try installing a True Track device. It's designed to stop the dreaded wobble which is a known and well documented problem for some touring bike riders.
I may do the tire pressure thing. I'v had this bike up to 110 w/no issues. There was only 25lbs. of air in the tires. I bumped it up to 38. It still runs straight w/no issues, but high speed turns got ugly.
I have heard about the wobble in researching my bike purchase last winter. I bought an 07 RKC last April and now have 9,000 miles. Ido ride aggressively some times and have never felt any wobble. I was reading an article in one of the bike magazines and it was an interview with a Dunlop rep who suggested 40psi in the rearone up or two up and 36psi in the front. TheHD manual calls for 36psi in the front and rear and 40psi in the rear when two up.If I know I may be riding some aggressive roads, I will stiffen up the rear suspension...this helps...but still have never experianced a wobble and I have a lot of mile cruising 75-85. I do check my tire pressurefrequently.
